I know, I know. You probably opened up your email and saw a new post from me or visited the blog looking for our playroom and den reveal I have been hinting at for weeks, but you’re going to have to wait a wee bit longer. I promise it’ll be soon. I am waiting on one last piece for our gallery wall to arrive and I have to paint the frames of some art I bought from a vintage auction and then it’ll finally be time. And trust me, the wait will be worth it. But, for now, let’s go outside.
Wait, outside, you say? Well, yes. We still have a million projects that need done in the house. So. Much. To. Do. So you would think we’d move on to the next inside room, right?! I mean, it’s been amazing to finally have one practically finished room and I can’t wait to have more. Logically we probably would move on to the next indoor room, or um, finish that bathroom that we started like six months ago… eek. However, we do also have logical reasons for moving outside… and even though you didn’t ask ;}, here they are:
1) It’s nice outside now. If we wait until we are done with the next inside project, it’ll be creeping on winter if not flat out winter time. It’s easy to work inside in the winter. It just make sense to make hay while the sun shines!
2) We want a break. The playroom and den remodel was fun, but it’s also been exhausting. Between what we started on the bathroom and then the playroom and den, we’ve been doing renovations for nearly 6 months. We are ready for a building project instead!
3) For this to make sense, I should add that our big outside project is a playhouse and swing area for the kids. Our little ones love playing outside, and we have a beautiful yard for it, but they’re currently playing on a half broken swing set the tenants left behind and Corey’s ninja rings. I think it will make for better playtime for them to have a fresh, new area and we have found that we can better do other projects when our kids have places to play. We are hoping them having two places instead of just the playroom will make it all the more smooth when we do tackle the next project.
4) We desperately need some storage area for bikes as winter approaches. Someday we want to build a nice big garage, but that’s just not in our budget right now, and there’s so many other things that are priorities before that. Our plan is to store the bikes and some other toys under the playhouse instead, and I think it’ll work so well that it might become their permanent home even after we build the garage!
Which, speaking of our plan, I’ll give y’all a quick run down on that before I go. If you love a good home/life blog, Ashley and Jamin over at The Handmade Home are definitely one to follow. They do some amazing work, have adorable free printables fairly regularly, and even do remote design for interested customers… which I’ve been tempted to do a few times just because I adore their style! But while I could go on and on about their beautiful decor in the home, they also have plans on their site for not one, but two out of this world playhouses.
We are mainly doing numero uno for our little playhouse, but adding a few modifications. Ours will have a swing set built off the side. A sandbox and storage area underneath will also be a part of it. Zippy’s one request was a play kitchen with a sink inside. Boss Boy wants a steering wheel like at the park. T, and, let’s be real, Corey, are also particularly thrilled about “ninja-fying” it. Think rock climbing walls, peg boards, climbing rope, and that kind of fun. I’ll be honest- we are all pretty pumped to see it come to life! Maybe we’ll all just move out there when it’s done! ;}
Anyway, official groundbreaking should be this coming week (MAYBE even today if we can get our act together!) so stay tuned! My next post SHOULD be the playroom and den reveal though! Can’t wait to share it with y’all! Happy Tuesday!
