There’s so much I have rattling in my brain about our playroom and den renovation that I have a hard time knowing where to start. I just want to share it all with everyone! Ultimately though I’ve decided first priority is to make a giant source list, not just in case anyone wants to know where to get something they love, but for my own future use too. My memory is getting more like a goldfish’s everyday. Squirrel.
Anyway, joking aside, the problem is the idea of a whole source list is overwhelming. There’s just so much that went into this. So, I’m going to just list the basics, and then if there’s anything else anyone wants to know about, feel free to ask and we can play a lovely game of memory! ;}
Mohawk Cambridge Frieze in Paved Granite from Menards.
Paint & Stain:
Black chalkboard walls- Nautica Sea Urchin (with 2TBSP unsanded grout added to every 1C paint to create chalkboard paint)
White walls, shelves, and trim- Dutch Boy Ultra White

Wooden shelves, counter, and table top- Minwax Dark Walnut
Modified from this tutorial from Remodelaholic.
Beadboard panels framed with 1x6s and painted with Zinsser Ceiling Paint.
Mainly all handmade by yours truly or my offspring, but there’s this one and this one by Katie Daisy and a few things off of Amazon, like the arrows, the gold H (I spray painted it), and the chalkboard I hand-wrote the Bible verse on. The wooden picture frames are all made by Frame USA and either bought directly from them or from them through Amazon and then stained with Dark Walnut. The colored frames with are from Walmart that I painted with various shades of Apple Barrel craft paint- Princess Purple, Petunia Purple, Lilac Mist, Purple Pansy, Bright Blue, Caribbean, New Shamrock, and Spring Green- or spray painted at our old house, and then I added mini clothespins to the edges for the ones for the kids’ art. The lyric signs are ones I hand-lettered and modified old frames to work. The mirror is an old WalMart one my sister glued fake flowers to for me. The H with the Pom-poms was made by Zippy and I at JBO Fine Arts Academy. And I think that covers it all, but let me know if I missed something you want to know about.
Home Reserve Tux Couch in Bulldozer Graphite (and P.S. it has storage inside it. Seriously in love with this thing.)
DIY project modifying an old table I received from a friend 🙂 but for posterity’s sake the colors are- Minwax Dark Walnut stain table top, Dutch Boy Ultra White, and Apple Barrel’s Spring Green, Caribbean, Princess Purple, and Candy Pink for the dipped legs.
Built using these plans and stained with Minwax Dark Walnut and the paint colors listed above.
Given to me by a family friend.
Rope-DIYed from a laundry basket, pillow case, and rope.
White and black- Dollar Tree baskets spray painted black. (They used to be available online, but I couldn’t find them any longer.)
Black and white triangle- Land of Nod
Black- Menards’ discontinued/clearance basket section.
Comes from Amazon, Target, WalMart, Land of Nod, antique stores, and more. Feel free to ask for specifics 🙂
So, that’s that for now. I’m not a big tutorial person, because I always feel like I’m guessing myself how to do it in the process (which I guess is part of the beauty of DIY, ha!), but if anyone wants a tutorial on anything, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. There’s something really empowering about doing an entire project yourself!
Anyway, happy hump day! Enjoy!
